Mentor matching
Each sophomore fellow is paired with a mentor for the year. Mentors will share their network, sit through mock interviews, and review resumes.
Chinese Finance Organization aims to develop and create a network for Chinese students and professionals in finance - informal and formal mentorship, gatherings throughout the year, and a community that gives back.
The Chinese Finance Organization's mission is to bring together Chinese students and professionals across finance, from sophomores breaking into the field to industry veterans who have spent decades in the space.
CFO is built around being in the same rooms: social gatherings, networking sessions, and a mentorship program that pairs each fellow with an industry professional. CFO's value comes from our members and their commitment to building a tight knit class that will stay in touch well into each member's career.
Gatherings through the year, sessions with members further along, and a room that is easy to walk into.
Our flagship program pairs each sophomore fellow with a member who recruited a few years before them.
CFO members everywhere become part of your network, compounding as the organization grows.
One cycle each fall: sophomores apply to the fellowship program, and once admitted, are matched with high-achieving professionals at leading firms.
The Chinese Finance Organization is a community of Chinese students and professionals at every stage of a career in finance. The idea grew out of a standing dinner between a group of friends who had all recruited without a committed network, and who wanted to pass their experiences on to help the next generation.
We are deliberately small in structure and long in relationships. We are proud to provide gatherings throughout the year, members who answer their messages, a mentor for every sophomore fellow, and rooms where a student and someone far along in the industry can have a first conversation easily.

CFO hosts workshops, covering industries each mentor has spent the past year in along with broader technical financial knowledge.
Pairings, alumni and next year's mentors in one room to close the cycle.
Small dinners, study rooms in season, and a group chat that answers within the hour.
Sophomores apply as fellows; anyone already on a desk, including graduating seniors, can apply to mentor one. There is no referral requirement — the board reads every application in the autumn cycle and answers within two weeks.
Membership is free at every stage. The board, the mentors and everyone running a program do it as volunteers.
| Who applies | Stage | Commitment |

Every firm here is a mentor's desk. Fellows meet them through their own pairing, and through the people their mentor knows.
Each autumn every sophomore fellow is matched with one mentor — a full-time analyst or a graduating senior — for the year. Matching goes by the function the fellow is aiming at and, where we can, by campus.
From there it is ordinary generosity, done consistently: the mentor reads the resume, sits for practice interviews, explains how a process actually moves, and introduces the fellow to friends on other desks. Recruiting rewards knowing what to ask and who to ask; a mentor is how a sophomore learns both a year early.
